The Inputs Section is broken into three easy steps:
- Client Information
- Assets
- Estate Information
Fill in the input fields (the white boxes) on each step. You can switch between steps using the notebook tabs, the step buttons, or the PageUp and PageDown keys. Use the Tab or Enter key to move from one input field to the next as you enter data.
As the cursor enters each input field, a hint is displayed on the bottom of the screen, giving you more information about the data requested.
Some inputs (and some buttons) are only available if the data you have entered indicates that they are relevant. For example, when you have selected a state with an Inheritance Tax (like PA), the Recipient Class button is visible. Click this button to select a recipient class and enter other Inheritance Tax specific data.
There are a couple important things to be aware of on the Inputs Section:
- State Death Tax Manager
- Inheritance Tax and Recipient Classes
- Domicile
- Life Insurance
- Adjusting Asset Values for Administration or Other Expenses
- Nontaxable Assets
- Optimize for State Death Tax
- Sunset in 2026?
- Override Handling of Assets at First Death
If you'd like to see a text summary of the plans, select View Summary from the View menu. You can also include the summary report in the final report.
Don't forget to save your file after you're done! Select Save or Save As from the File menu.
