View State Information

The taxes imposed by states are broken down into two different categories: state estate tax (pickup tax) and state inheritance tax. See Types of Taxes for more information.

The software uses the date of death to decide which estate tax and which inheritance tax rules should be used. In the case of inheritance tax, the Recipient Class is also used.

If you're creating your own state and want to add a new set of information, click the appropriate Add button. Each new rule is displayed in the appropriate list on this window. If you'd like to change a tax that you already created, select it in the appropriate list and click the Edit button.

Remember that you can only change information for states you have created! The "standard" states can only be updated by using the download feature.
